Gordian III Æ Medallion of Apamea, Phrygia. AD 238-244. Bakchios, son of Kallikles, magistrate. ΑΥΤ Κ Μ ΑΝ ΓΟΡΔΙΑΝΟϹ ϹЄΒ, radiate, draped and cuirassed bust to right / [Π]ΑΡ ΒΑΚΧΙΟΥ [ΠΑΝ]Η, three nude athletes standing around voting urn, each holding lot; agonistic urn above, ΑΠΑΜЄΩΝ in exergue. Unpublished, but cf. RPC VII.1 699 (same obv. die). 41.38g, 38mm, 6h.

Near Very Fine. Extremely Rare; the first known and possibly unique.
